Healthy Eating Recipe: Fairtrade Chocolate & Berry Truffles
Proving that a chocolate treat doesn’t have to be devoid of vitamins, our Fairtrade truffle-making sessions enable kids to make the healthiest truffles in town.
Jam-packed with rolled oats, goji berries, blueberries, cranberries and other delights, Chef’s truffles are delicious and fun to make at school and at home. At the end of each session, the children come away with their own, individually packed gift set of three mouth-watering truffles.
Please note that many schools are now using this session to link with enterprise activities and are selling gift packs made at summer/Christmas fairs. The same workshop has also been used as part of Christmas festivals and public events.
The use of Fairtrade ingredients also affords an opportunity to think about where foods originate and how world trade affects people from different cultures. The session touches upon many important issues and elements of the National Curriculum including:
